Butterfly Room
McLaren Hospital Butterfly Room
The time has come and we are so excited to share! With all of your support, love and donations, this is all possible!
On 6/29, her birthday, she gave a gift that will make a difference in the lives of so many.
Even from above, she continues to make the world better in her own special ways. She leaves her mark, spreads love, and touches hearts.
Before COVID, Painted Wings began working on a plan for the hospital. There were many obstacles and delays but the time finally came where we were all put on the right path!
Laiken’s Butterfly Room is more than a room.
Below is a part of my speech to help understand the purpose and importance of this space. I am always HONORED when I get to speak on bahalf of Painted Wings and all those who love and have been touched by Laiken’s life and story!
“When Bob and I lost Laiken to SIDS, it shattered our world. But what made those final moments more difficult was that we didn’t have a quiet, private space to hold her, to say goodbye, to simply be with her.
Instead, we were in a public space, surrounded by noise, interruptions, and strangers walking by. It took away any sense of peace we could have had in those final, sacred moments. No family should ever have to experience that.
That’s why Laiken’s Butterfly Room exists.
This room is a safe space, a quiet place where families can take the time they need to be together, to process the unimaginable, to hold their loved one close or feel their presence without interruption or noise. Everything in this room was chosen with love and purpose. I believe when families walk through these doors, they will feel that love and feel a little bit of Laiken’s spirit, too.
We can’t change what happened to our family. But we can change what happens for other families. Our hope is that Laiken’s Butterfly Room gives families the comfort, peace, and dignity they deserve during life’s hardest moments.
As we cut this ribbon today, on her birthday, we honor our daughter, we share her love, and we open the doors to a space that will help bring peace to others when they need it most.”
Happy Heavenly Birthday, Laiken. Your impact continues.
